Marilyn Meseke

http://the-american-history.blogspot.com/Marilyn Meseke has distinction of being twice crowned Miss Ohio and Miss America in 1938. Meseke enter and won the Miss Ohio contest twice. Her first title was won in 1931 at the age of 14; her young age reserved her from the national pageant. Her second title in 1938 eligible her to represent Ohio in the national Miss America Pageant. 1938 was the first year that talent became a score event in the contest which was fortutitous as Meseke was a talented tap dancer. While her hometown listens to the pageant on the radio, Meseke won the crown on September 10, 1938. The event also noticeable the first time that movie audiences could see a Miss America being crowned through news reel footage shown the week following the event. Meseke’s go back to Marion on September 29, 1938 included a night time parade attend by 30,000 well wishers from hometown and surrounding communities. Following the pageant win, Meseke continued to make appearances and lecture dance in Marion.

Katherine Shindle

http://the-american-history.blogspot.com/Kate Shindle is the American actress, singer, dancer, and AIDS activist. She came to fame as Miss America 1998, where she represents the state of Illinois as Miss Illinois 1997. Like previous Miss America Leanza Cornett, Shindle alert on official lecture appearances for HIV/AIDS awareness and education and has raised tens of millions of dollars for others. Shindle participated in and chair a session at a conference at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. In 1999, Shindle's first CD, Christmases to Come was free on SSP Records. The CD featured the Chicago jazz ensemble Skip Sams' Society Sound, and was used to encourage AIDS awareness and raised money for the National AIDS Fund. In 2003, she followed up with her first correct solo CD, Till Today, which was produced by Skip Sams and released on Sams' own label. In 2007, she was cast in the Broadway musical, lawfully Blonde, based on the 2001 Reese Witherspoon film, playing the role of Vivienne through the musical's entire Broadway run.

Charisse was entered films in the 1940. Her roles frequently focused on her abilities as a dancer. She’s films include Singin' in the Rain, The Band Wagon and Silk Stockings. She stopped dancing in films in the late 1950s, but continuous acting in film and television and in 1992 made her Broadway debut. She discuss the history of the Hollywood musical in documentaries, and participate in that’s Entertainment in 1994. She was awarded the National Medal of the Arts and Humanities in 2006 on Los Angeles, California, U.S. and died two years later as an effect of a heart attack.
